Canada Goose jackets are not cheap at all, so of all the winter coats that could be targeted, we’re not surprised it’s Canada Goose. A jacket from the brand is usually very expensive $1000 but maybe up to $1,295. Their outerwear is marketed as down jackets that will keep you warm in even the most extreme winters, but many Canadians opt for cheaper winter jacket options that still keep them warm.

Canada Goose thieves in Chicago went to all sorts of lengths to steal the expensive winter jacket. Last Wednesday evening, two men jumped out of a white Mercedes sedan armed with guns and assaulted a 54-year-old man to steal his Canada Goose jacket and wallet. Incidentally, one would think that someone who drives a about $100,000 Mercedes sedan wouldn’t run out of money, but then again, maybe they stole it too.

Another similar incident took place the same night in Chicago. Men driving a sedan showed a 23-year-old man a gun and demanded his Canada Goose coat.

Last week, a group of thieves driving a stolen Audi managed to steal Canada Goose jackets from six people between Tuesday evening and Thursday morning. In one case, a victim was even followed through the hall of her apartment.

It’s not even the first time in Chicago that thieves targeted Canada Goose. Since 2016, a Moosejaw outdoor gear store selling Canada Goose jackets in Chicago has attracted several thefts each year that target expensive winter coats.

The outerwear brand has been no stranger to controversy lately. Canada Goose has already been criticized for their apparently unethical use coyote fur and goose feathers. Canada Goose has denied these allegations, and on their websitesaid, “We believe that all animals are entitled to humane treatment in life and death, and we are deeply committed to the ethical sourcing and responsible use of all animal-derived materials in our products. “.
