Concepts and BAPE are ready for winter. The two are teaming up with Canada Goose for a six-piece collection made up of equal parts of outerwear and accessories.
Duck, duck, goose down – Every brand is a piece of the cake, whether through camouflage patterns or the functionality of the jacket. BAPE’s ABC CAMO brand debuted in 1996, which just happens to be the year Concepts was founded. Since Canada Goose and Boston-based Concepts have collaborated previously, the entrance to the BAPE gives the collection a breath of fresh air. Canada Goose brings its tried-and-true Expedition Parka, Chilliwack Bomber and Crofton Hoody, while BAPE and Concepts are lending their print and brand ABC CAMO respectively, bringing a streetwear touch to the preppy brand.
This collection’s Expedition parka reinvents the one originally designed for scientists in the Antarctic frozen tundra, featuring a down-filled hood, customizable fitted waistband, and a hidden, integrated nylon elasticated powder skirt. Inspired by that of the bush pilots of northern Canada, the Chilliwack Bomber has the same functionality as the original with reinforced elbows, interior backpack straps and five exterior pockets. As for the reversible Crofton Shark Hoody, the piece was designed with layering in mind, featuring BAPE’s Shark logo on the full zip hood and CAMO on the Recycled Feather-Light Ripstop fabric – the durable 100% recycled nylon. to Canada Goose water.
As for accessories, the collection includes a reversible toque, a down scarf and a blanket. The double-layered beanie is made from merino wool for the perfect fit, accompanied by an upgraded crown. Ripstop fabric finishes off the camo and black scarf which solves the annoying wind problem with a fastening safety panel at the end. The blanket doubles as a sleeping bag, compressing into a compact shape to take anywhere.
A hairy dilemma – Brands are always learning to redirect their efforts to be more sustainable, for example using more recycled materials and fake animals to reduce waste and cruelty to animals. Canada Goose has come under scrutiny in the past for using down in its jackets, sparking its 2022 initiative to use ‘salvaged fur’ instead of fresh trapper material – it’s interesting to do not completely abandon the fur.
The Canada Goose x Concepts x BAPE Winter Collection will be released on December 4 on each brand’s website, as well as accompanying retail stores. Keep in mind that Concepts has dibs on the Crofton Shark Hoody in red and BAPE has exclusive access to the Pacific Blue.
